Since 1927, the ILOAT has been adjudicating disputes within international organizations that recognize its jurisdiction. Its role is similar to organization-specific tribunals, like the World Bank Administrative Tribunal, or group-specific ones like the United Nations Dispute Tribunal & Appeals Tribunal for the UN system. However, the ILOAT is open to all international organizations. Its mission is justice for international civil servants across a spectrum of employment issues, from contract disputes to employee misconduct cases.
