A Virtual Private Network (VPN) masks your location and encrypts your traffic, making it harder for websites to track your activity. This is essential for investigators who need to browse sensitive information or access region-specific data without revealing their true location.
Access region-restricted data: Some jurisdictions block or limit access to corporate filings, government reports, or sanctions lists. A VPN allows investigators to view these resources while preserving anonymity.
Protect against geolocation tracking: Websites can track an investigator’s real-world location, which could expose sensitive research. VPNs help mitigate this risk.
Be aware of VPN restrictions: Some platforms actively block VPN usage. Having multiple VPN services or exit nodes can help maintain access when needed.
